Michaela Tramuta here…named after Mica͑ela (if you’re familiar with the soprano in the opera Carmen) born just hours before April Fools Day!
On that note, being actually born from an opera singer..it’s interesting. A career in the arts was destined for me but I had to come to the realization on my own. And thank goodness I did!
Now I am proud to say I am a NYC based actor, singer, dancer and musician.
Originally from Fredonia, New York a very small village 50 minutes West of Buffalo, NY and Niagara Falls (GO BILLS!) I attended many a performance at the SUNY college in my backyard. I attended as my Mother’s “plus one”. All the MT and Vocal Performance students knew me and spent much of their time off and between classes watching me as my Mom gratefully compensated them. To this day, those students say I am the same. Bold, Fiery and Vivacious. But the best thing to hear even to this day is that they all knew my attending college at that SUNY school in particular for my BFA in Musical Theatre was inevitable. And I couldn’t agree more. Those days in the Mason lounge playing pretend with the students was only the beginning!
I finally came to terms with my love and my skills in theatre in High School when I had a very Troy Bolton experience. To stay and play Varsity basketball or join the musical? Musical it was! I never looked back. Being a three sport athlete all my life did help the transition of going from one tight knit community to the next but I did NOT understand the road ahead! And as I’m carving my own path in this career I have to remind myself daily…it’s about longevity and persistence. So for me; yoga, cooking, learning musical instruments, reading, and genuinely learning all types of other skills in daily life (like putting a couch together) are my way of staying fresh and calm in this business. I strongly believe that the more well rounded and versatile I am in life the better artist I will be.
